What are the Blue’Log Weather Station Components?

Blue’Log Weather Station Components

The required sensors for the blue’Log meteorological station are as follows:

  • PV Pyranometer: An irradiance sensor built from a monocrystalline solar cell coupled to a high-precision shunt. It must be installed in a clear, unobstructed location and includes an integrated cell-temperature measurement.
  • Ambient Temperature Sensor: Housed within a solar radiation shield whose four aspirated plates allow air to circulate freely. The shield protects the sensor from solar irradiation, ensuring accurate ambient readings.
  • Module Temperature Sensor: Measures module temperature in °C. It provides a cost-effective solution suitable for both solar power plants and general-purpose applications.
  • Wind Speed Sensor: Measures wind speed at the plant and transmits the data to the blue’Log.
  • Wind Direction Sensor: Determines and reports the direction from which the wind is blowing.
  • Relative Humidity & Ambient Temperature Sensor: Measures both relative humidity and ambient temperature within photovoltaic systems.

Automatic Configuration of blue’Log Weather Station

Automatic Configuration of blue’Log Weather Station

Many data loggers require manual definition of each sensor and measurement. blue’Log, however, handles the configuration automatically. When a weather station is connected, blue’Log reads the SunSpec map and automatically recognizes the measurements it supports. This eliminates the need to add each measurement individually.

Simply select ‘’SEVEN Sensor Solutions’’ from the ‘’All Vendors’’ list. ‘’3S-IS’’ option will be selected automatically from the ‘’Series’’ list. In the Values section, select the data to be obtained from SEVEN Sensor Box. After that you will be able to monitor the measured data.

What sensor data does blue’Log read?

What sensor data does blue’Log read

blue’Log reads specific data points from the SunSpec map. It automatically retrieves whichever of these measurements are available at your weather station. The main data points read are: POA (plane of array irradiance), GHI (global horizontal irradiance), DHI (diffuse horizontal irradiance), DNI (direct normal irradiance), total effective irradiance, ambient temperature (AT), relative humidity (RH), pressure (PG), wind speed (WS), wind direction (WD), precipitation (PPT), and snow depth.

How to Monitor blue’Log Weather Station via VCOM?

How to Monitor blue’Log Weather Station via VCOM

The blue’Log datalogger transfers all monitoring data to the VCOM portal. VCOM (Virtual Control Room) is a monitoring system developed for photovoltaic installations. With VCOM, you can:

  • In case of a malfunction, you can quickly identify and efficiently resolve the problems.
  • You will see the performance report.
  • You compare actual production with theoretical production using data from the sensors.

The setup is simple because most of the configuration is done automatically.

  1. Mount the sensors following the placement instructions in the manual.
  2. Connect the RS485 to the blue’Log datalogger and power cables to a power supply.
  3. Enter the blue’Log interface and select SEVEN Sensor Solutions and parameters to be monitored.
  4. blue’Log automatically recognizes the weather station and its measurements via SunSpec.
  5. Verify that the data appears in the VCOM portal.

For detailed steps, please refer to the blue’Log weather station setting instructions and configuration video. Our team can provide remote commissioning support if needed.

Which Irradiance Sensor Models are compatible with blue’Log Dataloggers?

Since the irradiance sensor acts as a hub, the number of external sensors you connect determines which model to choose. The table below summarizes what can be added to each model. All models connect to blue’Log via RS485 Modbus RTU.

Model Connectable External Sensors
3S-IS External sensors cannot be connected (irradiance only).
3S-IS-1 Ambient Temperature OR Module Temperature Sensor
3S-IS-2 Ambient/Module Temperature Sensor + Wind Speed Sensor
3S-IS-3 Ambient Temperature + Module Temperature + Wind Speed Sensor
3S-IS-4-WD Ambient Temperature + Module Temperature + Wind Speed + Wind Direction Sensor
3S-IS-4-RH Module Temperature + Wind Speed + Relative Humidity & Ambient Temperature
3S-IS-5 Module Temperature + Wind Speed + Wind Direction Sensor + Relative Humidity & Ambient Temperature

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this weather station compatible with the blue’Log Dataloggers?

Yes. SEVEN Weather Stations are compatible with blue’Log dataloggers. For reference, you can check our
compatibility list .

How does the weather station communicate with blue’Log Dataloggers?

Sensors communicate with the blue’Log Dataloggers via RS485 using Modbus RTU.

What measurements are included in a standard blue’Log Weather Station?

Irradiance, module temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and relative humidity & ambient temperature are standard meteorological inputs of blue’Log Weather Stations.

Can I add or remove sensors from blue’Log Weather Station as needed?

Yes. The irradiance sensor box functions like a hub and supports up to four sensor inputs. This allows you to customize the station with the sensors you need.

What is the delivery time for the blue’Log weather station?

Delivery time varies depending on the order quantity. For a single standard set including irradiance, module temperature, relative humidity & ambient temperature, wind speed, and wind direction sensors, the typical shipping time is approximately one week.

What is the price of the blue’Log weather station?

Since every solar project has different needs, the price varies depending on the sensors you choose. For a complete professional installation including irradiance, module temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and relative humidity & ambient temperature the range is approximately between 645 EUR and 1175 EUR.

Where is the monitoring of blue’Log Weather Station carried out?

Monitoring is done through blue’Log 's VCOM Monitoring Portal systems.

How many devices can I connect to one blue’Log Datalogger?

Up to 30 devices can be connected to a blue’Log data logger.
