Hopewind Weather Station
SEVEN offers a weather station solution fully compatible with HopeComBox1000-G03 and HopePowerBoxSolar for solar power plants. Sensors for irradiance, module and ambient temperatures, wind speed and direction, and relative humidity are combined, and all data is evaluated via the HopeCloud monitoring system.
This system is specifically designed for the remote and comprehensive monitoring of large solar power plants. The goal is not just to collect data, but to accurately interpret and manage the plant's performance.

The Path of Data: From Sensor to HopeCloud

Every measurement from the weather station reaches HopeCloud in a few steps. Knowing this path makes both the setup and understanding where to look in case of a problem easier.
- Sensor measurement: Irradiance, temperature, wind, and humidity sensors measure field conditions.
- Data collection: Other sensors are connected to ports on the irradiance sensor. The irradiance sensor acts like a hub, consolidating all measurements at a single point.
- Single line transmission: All data is transmitted to the HopeComBox1000-G03 or HopePowerBoxSolar via a single RS485 Modbus RTU line.
- HopeCloud monitoring: The Hopewind device transmits data to HopeCloud. Meteorological data and production data are monitored on a single screen.
This workflow establishes a seamless data chain from the field to the cloud.
Which Hopewind devices do SEVEN Sensors work with?
The weather station is compatible with two Hopewind devices. Which one you connect to depends on your on-site setup.
- HopeComBox1000-G03: This is the communication box that collects central data and transmits it to HopeCloud. The weather station transmits sensor data to this box.
- HopePowerBoxSolar: This is the power and communication unit used in power plant management. The weather station also operates in the same way with this unit.
In both cases, the connection is made via a single RS485 line.
What Can Hopewind Weather Station Measure?

No single measurement is sufficient to interpret the performance of a power plant. The Hopewind weather station combines six measurements that reveal the overall conditions of the site: irradiance, module temperature, ambient temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and relative humidity. Irradiance provides a reference for production, while temperature describes variations in efficiency, and wind and humidity explain the instantaneous conditions of the site.
A large solar field may contain dozens of arrays and numerous inverters. Instead of evaluating each of these individually, a single, correctly positioned weather station provides a common and reliable reference for the entire field.
Irradiance data is used to calculate the expected production of the entire site. When actual production falls below this reference, the problem is in the system, not the environment. Thus, the performance ratio (PR) of numerous inverters is consistently monitored with a single calibrated reference.
This approach reduces both cost and complexity, especially in large-scale power plants where Hopewind is common.
Configuration and Monitoring of Hopewind Weather Station with HopeCloud

HopeCloud is Hopewind’s monitoring system. Data on irradiance, temperature, wind, and humidity from the weather station, along with production data, are displayed on HopeCloud. This allows for the remote monitoring and management of large sites from a single point.
When meteorological data is read together with production data, performance evaluation becomes much more reliable.
The installation has been kept simple. The sensors are mounted as per the user manual instructions and connected to the Hopewind device.
- Mount the sensors according to the placement instructions in the manual.
- Connect the RS485 line to the HopeComBox1000-G03 or HopePowerBoxSolar.
- Select the weather station on the Hopewind device and configuration will be made automatically.
- Verify that the data appears on HopeCloud.
Our team can provide remote support for commissioning if needed. For detailed compatibility information, please refer to the Hopewind compatibility list.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this weather station compatible with the Hopewind datalogger?
Yes. SEVEN Sensors are fully compatible with HopeComBox1000-G03 and HopePowerBoxSolar and operates via the HopeCloud monitoring system.
How does a weather station communicate with Hopewind data logger?
Sensors communicate with the Hopewind data logger via RS485 using Modbus RTU.
What measurements are included in a standard Hopewind Weather Station?
Irradiance, module temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and relative humidity & ambient temperature are standard meteorological inputs of Hopewind Weather Stations.
Can I add or remove sensors from Hopewind Weather Station as needed?
Yes. The irradiance sensor box functions like a hub and supports up to four sensor inputs. This allows you to customize the station with the sensors you need.
How many weather stations can be connected one Hopewind datalogger?
Hopewind dataloggers support up to 30 device connections.
What is the delivery time for the Hopewind weather station?
Delivery time varies depending on the order quantity. For a single standard set including irradiance, module temperature, relative humidity & ambient temperature, wind speed, and wind direction sensors, the typical shipping time is approximately one week.
What is the price of the Hopewind weather station?
Since every solar project has different needs, the price varies depending on the sensors you choose. For a complete professional installation including irradiance, module temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and relative humidity & ambient temperature the range is approximately between 645 EUR and 1175 EUR.
Do I need any special settings to view the data in Hopewind Datahub?
The sensor box is detected automatically. Data is not required to be manually added and configured on the datahub.
